Dry Reds

Cynthiana
cynthiana_logo_glass2Cynthiana  is a fruity yet subtle dry red with distinct floral notes is a varietal native to the Ozarks. The grape is also known as Norton and was originally “introduced by Dr. Daniel Norborne Norton of Richmond, Virginia who selected it from among what he believed were seedlings of a long forgotten grape variety called Bland, though there is some doubt as to whether it was the actual source of the seed which yielded Norton”. Keels Creek Cynthiana is barrel aged in American oak for 7 months. Unlike its original name-sake’s thoughts Cynthiana is far from bland. and offeres hidden secrets when paired with spicy food. Pairings can range from savory dishes like venison or a good steak to pad-thai.

Chambourcin

As a tribute to french wines, Keels Creek Chambourcin is a mellow yet bold red, rich with smokey and almost chocolate notes. The varietal is a French-American hybrid normally grown in the Atlantic side of the US, however it grows quite well in the Ozarks too. Keels Creek Chambourcin is aged for 7 months in American oak. As a medium bodied red with a deep red color and hints of stone fruit flavors, it can be easily paired with many dishes or stands well on its own.
Signature Red
signature_redKeels Creek’s signature; a blend of Cynthiana and Chambourcin was created as a homage to Edwige’s brother Robert Denyszyn who passed away shortly after the creation of this wine. This wine has bold flavors and a refined marriage  between its blended components which reflect Robert’s zeal for life and bears the fleur de lis along with Robert’s initials. This wine is most suitable to be paired with any main course or on its own.
